Principal
Cowan adds class to c.v. Ottawa,
January 2006 –
Dr. John Scott Cowan, Principal of RMC, has accepted an
invitation to join the RMC Class of 65 as an honorary member. He was
recommended to the Class by the RMC Club, which last year awarded him an
honorary life membership. A pre-Christmas e-notice to the Class garnered
nothing but favourable comments on such a distinguished gentleman
entering the 1965 Class list. John
graduated with his first degree in 1965, appropriately, but from the
University of Toronto. He now carries the honorary college number H24263,
which makes him a traditional “century” junior of 6663 Ed Mallory
and the late 6563 Gord Reay.
He’ll of course have to wait awhile to offer the beers he owes
to poor Gordie, but Ed has a chance to score 176 from him if ever they
meet near a well-stocked bar. John is
intimately associated with the Class on account of his yearly
involvement with its unparalleled Teaching Excellence Award, and his
role in the pending Endowed Professorship inaugurated with Class pledges
and donations last fall. Without John’s enthusiasm and vision within
the College’s academic administration, this latest ground-breaking
project would not have come to fruition. |
